After 40 years of managing and building Hire It (Natal) (Pty) Ltd to the trusted and successful business that it is today, Doug Fraser is stepping down as MD and handing the baton over to his son, Richard Fraser. The father son duo have been working together for the last 5 years and in this time the business has had some real success stories and great new partnerships allowing the company to extend its reach nationwide and grow to new heights. “I have to thank the customers that have supported Hire it over the years through thick & thin. Our dedicated staff have also contributed to our success by being loyal & very knowledgeable. Richard is going to take the company through a new growth phase & I’m positive he will enjoy the journey as much as I have.” says Doug.
In 2018, Richard and Doug launched an in-house brand of construction equipment, called KWAGGA. The range was created to meet a demand for quality tough equipment that was competitively priced. By using Honda engines to power the equipment and assembling it on site the demand was met and it’s been a huge success. Rugby Legend, Kwagga Smith himself, endorses Kwagga equipment and uses the Kwagga pressure cleaner and Kwagga generator on his farm! We look forward to seeing this local brand grow.
With over 15 years’ experience in finance, both in South Africa and in the UK, Richard is well poised to run the company and oversee the financials but Hire It has been a part of his life since he was a boy so his passion and loyalty to the company runs deep. He has grown the sales division of the business, called Tool Time, tenfold by selling equipment via online platforms and using the extended network of partners & customers built over the years. “I’m excited and honoured to be leading Hire It into the 21st century… online platforms, supporting local and focusing on quality, service and back up are all key drivers we are focusing on to maintain and grow our gem of a company”.
